Welcome to MotoVagabond.net!
My name is John, and, In November of 2011 I left home to ride my motorcycle from the United States down to Chile. However, as with most adventures, there were many twists in the road. And, I ended up in the Philippines (for now).
College & The Real World
After I graduated from college, I got a job and quickly realized that I didn’t want what most other people want. Working full-time on someone else’s goals (a job) got old quickly (what happened to all my dreams?), and, it seemed to me that most of the people in the “real World” weren’t all that happy with their lives. Or, at least not as happy as I wanted to be.
The trouble was, I had no idea what I actually wanted. And, knowing what you don’t want isn’t actually all that helpful. So, I began searching. And eventually, I found things that I was passionate about.
Not long after that, the dream of traveling The world by motorcycle was born. However, it wasn’t until two years later, while talking to my friend Autumn that I finally decided to make it happen.
So What is This Place?
I started this blog in October of 2010, as a way to document the process of getting on the road. It’s not really a travel blog, but more my thoughts on mobilizing yourself and achieving your dreams.
I’m not rich. Thus, a large part of my effort has gone towards saving money and proving that you do not have to be a millionaire to travel.
The last year has essentially consisted of many experiments in living semi-frugally, saving money and increasing my income. Those experiments have included all kinds of schemes, from living in my truck to starting my own business. (The latter being far more successful.)
If you read the links above, you should be pretty well caught up with what is going on. Ofcourse, there are always the archives, where you can browse my thoughts and lessons learned over the last 14 months. Thanks for dropping by, and don’t forget to subscribe!
